GE Gets Pranked Big-Time

Responding to the growing public backlash over the company’s not paying any taxes at all in 2010, “GE” released a very contrite press release earlier today. Here’s a quote from “CEO Jeffrey Immelt” himself:

“We want the public to know that we’ve heard them, and that we know many Americans are going through tough times. GE will therefore give our 2010 tax refund back to the public and allow the public to decide how to spend it.”

After this press release hit the ‘Net, the AP ran with it.

The best part? It was a hoax! So GE had to come out and basically say, “Oh, sorry, we’re not actually doing the right thing. We’re going to continue to rip off American taxpayers while we outsource U.S. jobs and hide our profits in tax havens around the world. Kthxbai.”

Nice work, pranksters. And GE: I still want my $14 back! (That’s how much each U.S. household paid into GE’s $3.2 billion tax rebate this year, on average.)

until americans have a showing at each State Capital, with at least 10,000.00 protesters, Congress, and corporate america, and the super rich, are going to keep laughing at US. We need to look like Egypt did when they started protesting. Lets get to work, take charge, go to your Day Labor shops, your employment offices, your closest unoin halls, to find people who are willing to stand up to the Greedy, corrupt congress, and Obamas Wall Sreet Pals.

I'd like to see MoveOn get focused on the Big Corporation rip offs that have been going on for a long time. I'm glad this became public in such a blatant way, now what are we going to do about GE not paying their fair share of taxes and getting such an outrageous refund???

Why don't we start a movement to boycott G.E. and other companies products that assume the middle class should pay their taxes. We can use this tactic as an effective means to get their attention. We need them to bring jobs back to America and assume some corporate responsibility for their actions. If they can't invest in America, we should not spend our hard earned money on their products. Remember, we have spending power and can make choices about what and where we spend our dollars. Corporations need us to make those huge profits, there are alternative available to us and we should make smart choices that will benefit us in the long run. Let us use what we have to draw the attention of the corporations to leverage our concerns and negotiate for the good our fellow Americans.
