A very special thank you to the Yes men and the YES LAB students for putting together a very nice hoax for Congo. Tonight was amazing. The police even had a barricade for us.   By the way, Apple found out about the hoax since this morning and they started calling around to see who was behind it. The NYPD officers were great and funny... of course they know the YES MEN. Also, Apple employees came up privately to An...dy to tell him "we love your work." I even overheard some of them talking about looking at the website after they are off work... and the shoppers.. lol... they looked lost...

  Frank LeFever I still want to know how this was distributed. How were people directed to that URL? Why were police on the scene? Just where exactly WAS the scene?

  ‎@Frank. They created flyers a few days ago and distributed it in the area near Apple around 10 am to 3 pm that morning. They sent an email alert to their supporters and a press release to the media around noon alerting them of the website ...and the pre-release with free upgrade. The flyer looked just like an Apple handbill... with website and date of the pre-release.
  
  Around 5 pm, we all met at Columbus circle and went to the store.
  
  The police came where we met and also was there at the store with a barricade. They were nice nonetheless. It seems that they knew Andy and just smiled a bit. They were even extremely nice at the Apple Store telling us to come toward the barricade and all that work of putting it together was for us ...lol...
  
  One of the employees informed us that Apple legal team called the police in the morning to let them know of what was going on, and that they were taking steps to sue the pranksters...See More
