2004 On the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal, India, chemical plant disaster that killed thousands, Jude Finisterra, a representative from Dow, tells a BBC audience that the company finally accepts full responsibility for the tragedy and plans to compensate victims to the tune of $12 billion. Only after Dow's stock plummets does the BBC or anyone else realize that Finisterra is not connected with Dow, but with the Yes Men, a political prankster group.

The magazine article shows a prank much like what CalTech pulled years before on another team's card squad: when they were supposed to flash their mascot's picture, viewers saw a toothy CalTech beaver. I learned about it via a Digest article several decades back!

years ago, Kansas (KU) fans changed a big concrete "KS" on a hillside south of Kansas State to read "KU" by adding whitewash and painting part of the S black. Later, K-State rigged up a banner over the KU basketball scoreboard at KU's field house and used a remote control to set off a small detonation to unfurl the banner over the face of the scoreboard during the game between the two. The game had to be stopped to take the banner down. As far as I know, they never found out who did it.
