It’s time to deport the Statue of Liberty.

That’s the latest mission for Legals for the Preservation of American Culture, an organization which has begun the “Deport the Statue” campaign for the removal of Lady Liberty through four Twitter accounts and a video that hopes to prove the iconic statue is not only an undocumented French immigrant but is “taking a job away from a qualified American statue.”

There’s just one small detail -- it’s all fake.

Breakthrough, a Global human rights group, began the fictional Twitter accounts late last year and on Tuesday began circulating a “Deport the Statue” video of Lady Liberty being questioned by the U.S. Citizens And Immigration services only to be deported for failure to prove her legal status. “I hope the miniature fictional universe we created to go along with this video will make people think, ‘Wow, I almost believed this was real. The forces against fairness are strong — it’s time for me to take action’,” said Breakthrough president and CEO Mallika Dutt in a press release. “Today we have an unprecedented opportunity to help deliver the most fair, inclusive, common sense and humane immigration reform we can. ‘Deport the Statue’ paints a not-so-far-fetched picture of the attitudes and norms that stand in the way of that.”

In their ongoing #ImHere campaign, the human rights group aims to “keep the human rights of immigrant women on the national agenda,” especially as an immigration reform bill makes its way through Congress.

Last October, the organization released a five minute film, “The Call,” to highlight the choice that some undocumented mothers must make between keeping their family together and calling for help under a threat of deportation.

  • John Boehner (R-OH)

    Boehner famously called a 2007 bipartisan immigration bill that offered a <a href="http://www.economist.com/news/united-states/21567106-election-drubbing-changes-minds-time-its-different">pathway to citizenship for the undocumented "a piece of shit."</a> It's not clear whether he plans to stick by those words. After the election he said he thought he could find common ground with the White House on immigration reform, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/09/john-boehner-immigration-citizenship_n_2102506.html">though he wouldn't say whether</a> he'd support a pathway to citizenship.

  • John Cornyn (R-TX)

    Sen. John Cornyn, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/Politics/gop-senator-cornyn-border-security/story?id=18187299">made clear in a speech last week that he's not interested in a pathway to citizenship</a> -- just more border security.

  • Ted Cruz

    The first Latino U.S. Senator from Texas says he <a href="http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/politics/2012/08/01/what-does-ted-cruzs-victory-mean-for-texas-latinos/">"categorically opposes" a path to citizenship</a> for undocumented immigrants.
