Yes Men Say No To WTO

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) -- There are other ways to protest injustice besides wearing a gold lame outfit featuring a giant phallic symbol -- but they're not as much fun.

That's what activists Andy Bichelbaum and Mike Bonanno discovered a few years ago when they set up a phony website spoofing the World Trade Organization.

As a result, they were invited to address various groups on behalf of the actual WTO and during one loony lecture, Bichelbaum wore a "modern leisure suit" made of gold lame with a giant penis-shaped television extending from the waist.

Another time, he and Bonanno suggested solving world hunger by making hamburgers from the feces of wealthy nations and feeding them to the poor.

Amazingly, few listeners batted an eye so the duo settled their score with the WTO by announcing it was disbanding -- and had their prank reported as fact by news agencies around the globe.

The Yes Men aren't spoofing the WTO as much anymore but their pranks appear in a new documentary, "The Yes Men," which opens nationwide Friday (Oct. 1).
