However, those companies I listed are also run by men who are transparent to their governments. The world is run this way. It's not the best of situations by far, but while your outing one, you'd better look to see if your cutting your own nose off at the same time.

All I'm saying is if you are going to take a stance on a topic, ensure that the rules you are applying apply equally everywhere. Otherwise you're just being biased without realizing it.

I have been researching the Anthrax attacks for several months now and I really believe that the same people who were involved in 9/11 are responsible for the Anthrax attacks as well. Far too little time passed between the first anthrax attack and the events of 9/11 for there not to be a connection.

Given that the source of the particular strain used and the way it was weaponized, a highly secret and patented process, the anthrax used could have only been found at Fort Detrick, in Maryland, tells us that someone in our own government tried to assassinate the Democratic Leadership of Congress.

I can in no way say who tried to do that. But it would seem prudent to me, to find out. Assassination is a serious deal in this country. It does not happen all that often. I cannot understand why there have not been howls for investigations, even Heariings? Why aren't all the American people asking for the the culprit to be found, at least named?

I would expect the president to mention the Anthrax attacks every time he mentions 9/11, which is still fairly often. But he never mentions the attempted assassination of the Democratic leaders in the Senate. The man never mentions it!

Anyone who has put on one of these suits will tell you that Cheney would have a heart attack just trying to struggle into it. He also would need help putting it on, something people aren't likely to do when they're writhing around on the ground gasping for air. I can personally attest to the prevalence of right-wing paranoia. I have an uncle from Arkansas who carries a handgun with him everywhere he goes. When he dines out, he insists on being given a table next to a wall and sits with his back against the wall so that no one can sneak up on him from behind. He's a retired Baptist minister married to a woman with a doctorate in education.

Another right-wing, pro-life, fundamentalist acquaintance of mine has been convinced for years that she is being followed, that her phone and computer have been tapped, etc. But, of course, she is totally oblivious to the irony that it is the Republican dominated government she helped to elect that is now actually doing some of these things.

It's amazing how so many of these crackpots keep referring to sins of Bill Clinton or the threat of communist subversives or the "horror" of gay marriage as if any of things were credible threats. One well educated friend of mine actually tried to blame the Enron scandal on the "culture of permissiveness" created by Clinton. I told him that the Republicans must think a lot of Clinton since they give him credit for inventing the blow job and corporate malfeasance.

It all reminds me a story I read around the time of the fall of the Soviet Union. One populist leader in some Eastern European country started a campaign of blaming his country's economic woes on the conspiratorial Jews. The only problem was, there weren't any Jews left in that country. They had all been driven off or murdered during WWII!

These nut jobs might be paranoid, but I hope for our sake that there actually IS somebody out to get them!

My very direct and very short answer to your question is "No", and I think that if you read my first statements at 08:35 AM you'd be able to see that I called for accountability.

It is their being labeled criminal simply for being given no-bid contracts or insinuations that their only intent or purpose of being is to cheat the world and that it is somehow representative of what America, its people, and its government symbolize that I object to.

It's the very thing you also did in phrasing your second question; "So the U.S. should debase its standards further than this president already has?" It’s a loaded accusatory statement full of insinuation over being any real question that you ever expect an answer for. By doing it, you effectively equate the known actions of a public company as representative of the intentions of our President and our citizens in general. It’s patently dishonest and deliberately disparaging to do so, yet it’s done all the time without any regard to how it is viewed or propagated further without evidence or consequence.

I understand that America bashing is very popular now but our government rotates out all the time. What will the climate be like that you hope to inherit once the Bush admin is replaced? How can you ever expect to function honestly after knowingly throwing blanket invectives out at will? Do you honestly think the same wouldn’t be done to you? And, should you somehow fail to live up to the calls of change, you will be in no better position than Bush finds himself now and the climate will only worsen further. Is this the road you wish to pave for our future?

I sure hope not.

Look around the world; we have one of the highest corporate tax rates around. Our leftist political leaders and educators have effectively fooled the population into thinking that corporations somehow pay no tax. The fact of it is, is that they do pay and they do so at a rate of about 40%. Most European countries only tax corporations at a rate of about 30%. If I owned a multi-million/billion dollar company, I’d be hard pressed (if not foolishly stupid) to ever keep it solely U.S. owned/operated. 10% more may not seem like much to you but when you’re talking billions that seemingly small percentage looms large over your bottom line.

As for the Vice President being paranoid over an assassination attempt; how elevated would any group or person instantly become if an attempt were to be even meekly attempted? Part of defeating any group or person is by ensuring that any possible attempt fails. In light of the Anthrax attacks that preceded 9/11 and the naked attempts by Saddam and Al Qaeda to acquire both chemical and biological agents, it seems only prudent to prepare for an eventual if not actual attempt.

Changing routine is standard procedure to protect any high value potential target. Having on hand anything he might need to stay alive in the event of an assassination attempt is also very prudent on the part of the secret service. The secret service has to be prepared for any threat that is even marginally possible. That is their job.

These guys took a lot of grief because of the “goat story” fiasco – they should have hustled GW out of that school immediately. Maybe they are going a little overboard now, but can you blame them?

Idiots. Apparently nothing is known about the security measures a vice-president must take to remain alive. He is the second highest profile target in the entire world, second only to the POTUS. Whether we like him or not, he is a leader of this country, and simply stepping outside onto his back porch is a risk.
I am in the military and one thing they tell us is to take alternative routes between locations that we visit frequently whether that be between home, work, church, etc. This is not paranoia, this is prudence.
I am no apologist for this administration, but some people need to pull their heads out of their asses and find something worthwile to attack our leaders about, such as Iraq, border security, spending, etc...
