2004 · Last week, the Bush administration
was throwing its weight around trying to censor pictures
of the flag-draped coffins of American soldiers being shipped
home from Iraq. This week, you would think, the Bush administration
would be scrambling to splash flag-draped coffins on front
pages around the world, because at least those images are
marginally less disturbing than the pictures from Abu Ghraib.
