Mystery of New Orleans' fake bureaucrat

A fake spokesperson from a federal agency announced a sudden reversal of government policy in New Orleans. Speaking on Monday, August 28, the man claimed to be from the Housing and Urban Development Department. He gave a speech announcing a reversal of federal plans to tear down flood-ravaged public housing in NOLA. The fate of housing has been highly controversial there.

The "spokesman" is apparently connected to a convincing looking Web site that also contains the fake reversal of plans. Here's the legit Housing Authority of New Orleans site for comparison. Only the actual content seems to vary.

Update at 5 p.m.: There are media reports out that this mysterious person is part of a group that has pulled dirty tricks on the WTO in the past. The fake site appears to have been taken down.
