The
official spin on this political action was to say "shame on them" for
"joking" about such a serious situation when so much is at stake for so
many people. I don't accept the characterization of what the Yes Men
did as a "joke."
It wasn't meant to be funny.
It's not funny.
If
we take it seriously, as it was meant to be, we can have a better
conversation about what HUD actually should have said up there on that
stage, which is, of course, exactly what the Yes Men said.

Unfortunately, rarely are the Yes Men's pranks seen by the public at
large. I've had the opportunity to hear a talk by them in Troy, NY and
have followed them ever since. Personally, I would vote for any of them
rather than the choices we are now or have been given. We certainly
could use their ingenuity.
