  • The country's lost nearly three million manufacturing jobs in the past three-and-a-half years. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans headed to the Rust Belt today to announce that the Bush Administration has reversed course and decided to continue the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, which it had slated for elimination.
  • A cold week in the Midwest and the Northeast means a good week for speculators who bet on high energy prices. It pays to have a good weather forecaster.
  • Amazing how powerful a lone mad cow can be. Tucked away in the Senate Appropriations Bill is a provision that would delay for two years a mandate for "country of origin" labels on meat and produce. Food retailers and meat producers are ready to participate in such a program – as long as their participation isn't mandatory.

    It's that busy time of year again in Park City, Utah, when movie execs converge and try to pick from over 230 films being screened at the Sundance Film Festival. This year, the hot tickets are to the documentaries. One such production is "The Yes Men" which follows two anti-corporate activists as they masquerade as World Trade Organization representatives at conferences around the world.
