UPDATE:
Someone involved in the prank told Politico that they printed 1.2
million copies that are being distributed in 12 cities, including New
York, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. Identifying himself only as
Mordechai Tuchasmann, this participant wouldn't admit the Yes Men were
behind it, the loosely-knit group of liberal pranksters that
impersonate those they're criticizing.
"This is a serious topic," he said. "The war is finally over and
people aren’t willing to believe it. Why do they have to blame it on a
bunch of pranksters? Why do they have to spoil people’s hope by
assigning blame to some scoundrels that hoax organizations like the
International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and corporations like Dow."

of the very well-done, fake New York Times that's being distributed
today at various points in the city, and reports that an e-mail address
connects it to radical prankster group, The Yes Men. And here's the group's e-mail.

what a very very well done prank. hilarious. its not really a prank
though since its so obvious they arent actually going to convince
anyone who isnt a total imbecile into believing its the real ny times
(for one thing the date is in the future and the tagline 'all the news
we *hope* to print' would immediately give it away, not to mention the
ridiculously liberal content). but very nice work of political theatre,
and at least it got the MSM's attention for a day, even if none of them
seem to have comprehended its purpose or appreciated its ingenuity
