• Coal Seam Gas (CSG) extraction depends on destructive techniques that threaten large sections of our underground water table. It is not 'Water Wise'.
• there are currently no regulations to enforce long-term monitoring of water levels or quality after a CSG project finishes.
• even if problems with CSG activities are found, it will already be too late.
• if an aquifer is polluted by CSG, it could take thousands of years to recover.
• the United States has a longer history of CSG: there are now thousands of documented cases of drinking water being contaminated.
• CSG seems to symbolise the triumph of reckless, short-term greed over sound long-term management of our resources. It's an issue that should make anyone reconsider how they will vote.
