The Yes Men answer your questions on thier new film, their favourite stunts and bowling with Michael Moore.
Which pranks do you think in hindsight were the most misguided or just didn't work? Aurora Hayward, Brighton
There was one event where we impersonated the Bush Campaign at a
conference in Florida. They figured out we were not the real campaign
and chased us off. That didn't work.
How did you manage to swap the voice boxes or GI Joe and Barbie dolls? Karen Muller, Flagstaff, USA
We purchased the toys from shops around the USA. We then
carefully opened the boxes, cracked open the toys, did a bit of
soldering and cutting, and voila! Then they were placed back on the
store shelves be means of "shop dropping."
Are you worried that after the film your faces will be too well known to be able to stage more high-profile hijinks? Michael Rees, Bristol
We will either go on an extreme makeover show so we can change
how we look, or we will contact you to help us out and be the "face"
for the Yes Men.
Do you secretly wish you were rulers of the world? Shirley Carter, London
Oops! The secret is out. Who told you?
If people don't get your satire, is it their fault or yours? Hannah Law, Edinburgh
We need to blame everyone for believing the stupid and violent
logic of the World Trade Organisation - helping the rich does not help
the poor. That is stupid, but that is what they claim. Lets start by
blaming people in power. Tony Blair. He is one to blame. Why hasn't he
taken a position contrary to Thatcher since he was elected? Everyone
knew she was a free-market nutter, but Blair? We need to start by
blaming him and others in power.
Do you think that people have become more aware of the
power of multinational corporations thanks to journalists like Naomi
Klein and film-makers such as yourselves and Michael Moore? Do you
think that this makes you're stunts somewhat redundant in exposing
corporate stupidity and hypocrisy? Carl McLeod, Carlisle
Perhaps having a redundant voice is better than being made
redundant. We will remain active on the topic until the system actually
changes.
What do you think of Michael Moore? Is he a friend? Do you go bowling together? Jim Sheridan, Sunderland
We would love to bowl with Michael Moore! Great idea. He's probably busy, but now we finally have an excuse to ask him!
What is the favourite stunt you have pulled? Kelly Brown, Colchester
The most uplifting was when we announced the end the WTO in
Sydney. The one that had the most impact was posing as executives from
Dow Chemical to take responsibility for the Bhopal disaster.
What did you do before you morphed into the Yes Men and what are going to do next? Sarah French, Lancaster
We were running the rtmark.com, an anti-corporate activist
website. Later on, we will be Yes Men some more, and then do some other
things, and then die.
