On Friday, April 1, The New School kicked off The New School Arts Festival Presents Noir, the beginning of a week-long multimedia celebration of noir that marked the first time an arts festival has ever been held at the university.

On March 31, the university community was outraged when flyers appeared around campus announcing a smoking ban in the Lang courtyard, which has long been a smoker's haven.

Andy Bichlbaum, one half of the controversial activist duo the Yes Men, has become one of many part-time professors at The New School to not have his contract renewed for next year. Bichlbaum has taught communication, design and technology at Parsons for five years, but is better known for his unique "Yes Labs," which are intensive workshops where he introduces students to social activism.

The office of the general counsel has signed off on a revised sexual misconduct policy for The New School, overhauling how it deals with sexual assaults and rapes on campus. Approval by the board of trustees is the only obstacle remaining before The New School officially adopts the revamped policy. The students who played such a pivotal role in the drafting of the new guidelines, however, were excluded from the general counsel’s review process.

A dark-haired woman knelt down on her knees on the front of a dark stage with a spotlight on her, praying to God that her comedy show wouldn’t suck. To her surprise, a loud, booming voice resounding from the speakers responded to her prayers: “Don’t worry, you’ll do fine.”
Scared and confused, the woman asked, “Who are you? Where are you?”
The voice responded again, “I’m God. I’m everywhere.”

Lang’s spring production, “From the Fire,” a theatrical tribute to the 146 workers who perished in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory 100 years ago, opened on Wednesday, March 23 to a standing room only crowd at Judson Memorial Church, just steps away from the factory’s original location.
